Making a Claim - How Long Will It Take? PDF Print E-mail
How long will it take? Each and every case is unique and the length of any case can depend upon many factors. Any settlement will be on a once and for all basis so it may not be sensible to try and settle your claim until the full consequences are known.

The timing may depend on:

  • Whether there is an argument about "fault"
  • Whether the other driver is insured
  • The type and duration of injuries
  • Any doubt about the causation of injuries - especially if there were pre-existing symptoms which have been made worse
  • Your choice - for example you may want us to arrange a course of treatment or employment rehabilitation before you feel ready to seek a settlement

As you can see - it all depends on your particular circumstances. We will not rush you, but equally we'll not let things slide if it is sensible to press on straight away.

Will I need to go to court?

The court is there to resolve issues but the majority of compensation claims will be capable of amicable resolution provided your case is properly and expertly presented - precisely why Veitch Penny will be your lawyers of choice.
