With the law about cycle helmets continuing to develop, and with cyclists expected to exercise the same duty of care as any other motorist, cycle collision claims need a careful, planned and specialist approach. Our expertise has been developed over many years.

Car Collisions Print E-mail

We have been representing the victims of road traffic collisions for over 25 years and have built up a team of legal experts able to offer you the expert advice and support you need.

Motorcycle Collisions Print E-mail

Whether rider or pillion you will need a biking specialist.   Someone who hasn't merely paid for the priviledge of getting bikers claims passed to them, but who has a deep knowledge of riding techniques and the dynamics of machine handling characteristics.  Someone who doesn't just know the difference between a can and countersteering, but who can actually argue with an insurance company (or a Judge) on the biker's behalf.

Ask yourself how many non bikers could explain the need for accurate positioning,  response under engine braking,  the importance of stability, the effect of countersteering,  that filtering is actually not anti social  if perforemed properly, and so forth?  If you are thinking "not many" then now wonder how many insurers or even Judges would understand your point of view?

Veitch Penny, corporate member of the BMF and co-founders of the BMF Biker Legal Line, are proud to represent riders who live in England and Wales and who have been injured through another's fault.

Partner Andy Harris is a recognised specialist in this field, with enthusiastic bikng barristers standing by in the wings when needed.  Andy currently rides a K1200S, (yes - used all year round!), and spends most of his leisure time on or around bikes and the Devon Advanced Motorcylists Group.  with a team of specialist claims handlers and litigators, behind him, you can be sure you are in safe hands.  Call Andy direct on 01392 28855.

Veitch Penny Success Stories Print E-mail

Road accident case relating to a young girl who was a keen horse rider and prior to being injuried dreamt of becoming a police officer. She was in a road traffic accident injuring her back.  As a result her riding was dramatically reduced and she was unable to qualify for the police force despite taking the physical test several times. She received in the region of £100,000

Lady with congenial hip abnormality aged 37 at time of accident. Already had one hip replacement at the time. During the road accident she suffered further injury to her hip and other multiple injuries together with depression. At the time of the accident she was an Hotelier hoping to return to nursing. Significant medical causation problems due to the fact that the original hip that had been replaced was potentially defective (unrelated to accident). Issue as to the period of acceleration of hip replacement. Due to VP expertise we instructed a Senior Professor at Radcliffe Hospital whose evidence was accepted. Further issue on projected career in return to nursing and also on current career prospects. Investigations undertaken from comparators. Insurers maintened a very firm line and were only prepared to offer £25,000. Claimant moved to Middle East. Most instructions and investigations had to be conducted over the internet and had a window of opportunity to settle when the Claimant returned to the UK for two months. VP organised a mediation that failed because insurers not prepared to increase offer realistically but as a result of further VP negotiations case was settled in the gross sum of £15,000.

Motorcyclist sustained shoulder and head injuries when a van turned across his path.  Self e mployed tradesman whose business sufferred.  Treatment costs and interim payments were agreed, with settlement at over £300,000 recovered by our Motorcycle Unit, and all without the need for court proceedings.
